Create and Organize Website Content

Adding a content page

While many topical items belong as blog posts, more timeless, permanent materials may do better as a page in your site’s navigation. This could be anything from a testimonials page to a list of local vendors or a staging checklist.

To get started, go to your dashboard’s Publish tab and click Website content page. This takes you straight in the area of your website admin where you can start with some of our provided page content or go from scratch.


Using provided content pages...

In the My Content step of the Wizard, just find a page in the list and place a check next to it.   Then, click Save, and it will be on your site. To preview and customize it, click the page name. 

Note: For provided pages, we have multiple templates and even options written for a single agent vs. a team. Our most popular content uses our Ghostwriter technology that adjusts verbiage and phrasing to ensure the page is unique in the eyes of a search engine. Just click Rewrite and see the page change before your eyes.

There are numerous other options in the content editor that we won't explain here, but you'll want to explore, such as integrating a lead capture form, listings and other content.  When you are through editing, just scroll to the bottom of your page and click Save and Close.

Creating a custom content page...

  1. Once in the My Content step of the Wizard, go to the Custom tab.
  2. Now, click Add New.
  3. Enter a Button Name.  This is what appears in your site's menus.
  4. Enter a URL.  This is what appears in the browser's address bar.
  5. Now, type your content.  We provide a simple editor that makes it easy to put in headings and insert images and links.
  6. Scroll down and enter a page title.  This shows up in the browser's title bar and in search engine results.
  7. Enter a page description.  This shows up as the summary of the page in search engine results.
  8. Be sure to click the box to submit the page to search engines.  Otherwise, it won't get crawled and be available when consumers search.
  9. Finally, click Save and Close.
  10. When back in the My Content step of the wizard, you'll see your page listed.  Place a checkmark next to it, then click Save.

The next step is arranging your page in your menus.

Organizing your menus or "tabs"

Once you’re back in the wizard, move on to Step 6 where you organize your content. If you just added a new page, it will be the last thing in your navigation and will show up with all your other links. If you want to put it as a menu item, either drag and drop it on top of another page to create a whole new menu or drag and hold it over an existing menu

The Organize Content step of the Website Wizard is where you decide how links to the content on your site are organized.

  1. From your Website Admin, click on Website button in top navigation.
  2. On the left-hand side, click on Organize Content.
  3. Now, organize your content! Tips below.


Basics

  • Simply drag and drop the links into the order in which you want them to appear on your site.  Just click a page, hold down the left mouse button, and drag it into position. Then let go of the mouse button and it will drop into position.
  • The Primary Navigation items should be your most important links - the ones you want people to see first. If you are on a mobile-responsive theme, your site doesn't utilize the Primary Navigation. Please see "Secondary Navigation" below.  
  • Your Secondary Navigation should have some organization regarding the content of the links. For example, group the links pertaining to Home Buyers, Sellers or other topics.
  • Use the button separator item to add space between buttons and segment items so they aren't all run together
  • You can create groups within your Secondary Navigation by clicking the arrows to indent particular button names. 

Creating Fly-out Menus

Click and drag one button item on top of another button item in the Secondary Navigation area. It's easy to create fly out menus within your secondary navigation bar that appear when users move their mouse over a particular item. This is a great way to enhance your site by providing a lot of relevant information for your clients without cluttering your site with too many buttons.  To create fly-out menus...

  1. When the Secondary Navigation button that you want to turn into a fly-out menu turns dark blue, drop the button item and it automatically creates a fly out menu.
  2. To view the items in your fly-out menu, simply click the + symbol and the menu items within it are displayed below that button item.
